Is society teaching students to think for themselves or not?

On Monday,September 17, 2012 Lynda C. Lambert published an article in The Chronicle of Higher Education titled "So Many Hands to Hold in the Classroom", this article shows how more and more instructors are seeing students who do not know how or a so unused to thinking, they do not know how to handle it when they get an instructor who expects it. I myself have a problem with this and am growing
