Regardless of what you have heard Emeril Lagasse did not grow up in Louisiana. He actually grew up in Fall River,
Massachusetts While in high school, he mastered the
art of bread and pastry baking by working in a Portuguese bakery . He could have taken a scholarship to the New England Conservatory
of Music, but decided to do what he loved and got a culinary degree from Johnson and Wales
